Melanie Wade Leslie
Biography
Melanie Wade Leslie is an experimental mixed-media artist/printmaker with an affinity for color and texture. Her work is predominantly figurative, and frequently embodies metaphorical, iconic, and expressive equine imagery. Herself a horsewoman for many years, her work reflects not only upon in-depth research into the universal attributes of legendary Equus and its complex historical dialog with the human spirit, but also upon personal experiences with her own horses. A native Texan, Leslie holds academic degrees from Sam Houston State University (BFA - Painting) and the University of Houston (MFA – Studio Art). Though now retired from formal classroom environments, she enjoyed three decades as a university art professor as well as high school public school art teacher. A practicing artist, she has exhibited both domestically and internationally.
