Reflective Marks with WAX - An Intuitive Encaustic Workshop

Step into a calm, creative space filled with ambient music, soothing aromas, and an atmosphere of ease. In this ***intermediate encaustic workshop, we’ll begin with reflective writing—exploring personal thoughts and emotions through journaling. These written reflections will then become the foundation of our artwork, layered with oil paints, textiles, collaged papers, and wax.

As we begin to layer onto 10"x10" wood panels, the words transform into abstract marks yet their energy remains—encased within the wax like a sealed memory. This process becomes a metaphorical release: acknowledging our inner landscape, expressing it visually, and gently letting go. The final piece becomes both a container and a witness—honoring what was, while making space for what’s next.

No need to be a poet or a painter—just bring your willingness to explore, express, and create.

ALL supplies included. We have plenty of supplies here but you are welcome to bring more; your favorite tissue paper (plain or pattern); favorite writings, sayings, poems, magazine cutouts, hand-made papers, fabric, etc. Other items participants may want to bring are: apron and disposable gloves.

***Intermediate Workshop - not meant for first time users of encaustic. Please consider taking an introductory/beginner workshop by Shauna Marie before joining Reflective Marks.

Class Size: 4
